Meet Alex Greeley:
(apologies for the bad art; i drew this quite a while ago)
(get ready for the longest character bio i have ever written)
Segara's most renowned scientist and one of the most interesting figures one would care to meet, Alex has dedicated his entire life to science--so much so that he has managed to seemingly defy standard laws of reality through very intricate temporal tampering.
Alex was originally born on Segara to an immigrated and rather wealthy American family on Earth date January 17th, 2230. Throughout his life, shows and demonstrations having anything to do with any of the sciences fascinated him to no end.
His overall personality, which he has maintained throughout his rather intricate life, has been rather odd. He once had an interest in romance, but after some time, he'd become bored with the concept. On somewhat rare occasion, he is prone to small amounts of innocent trickery, the most notable instance of which being his use of the C10 Object Impermancence Device (which actually just transported the targeted group of objects to another dimension without and visual or audible effects, giving the illusion that they'd simply vanished), which he used on one of his friends' lunch trays in order to explain the disappearance of a large number of his ballpoint pins (even though he knew they didn't simply disappear from the face of existence). His group of friends is very small, and he is commonly a bit nervous and a bit hyperactive, much like the classic idea of a mad scientist.
Before he was even halfway through high school, he determined that his ultimate goal was to study all forms of science in an attempt to acquire a genuine understanding of the universe.
His first introduction to temporal science came midway through his senior year of high school, through a TV show that explained how safe time travel could potentially come at some point in his lifetime. Needless to say, he was determined to spearhead that effort if it was the last thing he did.
He enrolled at the Tritian Institute of Advanced Sciences for his college education, immediately declaring an incredibly difficult dual-major in both temporal theory and teletransportation systems--the two fields he believed would be the basis of time travel. During his numerous years of undergraduate studies, his social life was at a bare minimum, and sleep was not common either. The few people who *did* associate with him believed he'd gone thoroughly mad in his decisions. Nonetheless, by some miracle, Alex graduated at the top of his class. He wasn't done yet, however; he would go back to that same institute the very next year, aided by numerous scholarships and grants (which were rather easily acquired, due to his previous reputation at the college), in order to obtain a degree in a *third* field: advanced microbiology.
His family, indescribably proud and honestly rather shocked by his diligence, supported him faithfully throughout his endeavors, ensuring that he would go through college debt-free.
After he was finally done with college at the age of 26, Alex went on to work at a top-secret Segaran research facility for the next twenty years--just long enough to raise enough of his own money for his next project.
He returned to Tritius twenty years later to continue his studies as a graduate student, obtaining doctoral degrees in all three of his previous majors one-by-one over the course of the next eighteen years.
Finally, at the age of 64, Alex's plans were set in motion. After a year of gathering funds and parts, his combined knowledge of temporal physics and teletransportation were put to use as he began work on the first temporal transportation ring. The project was watched eagerly by the entire Tritian Alliance, as well as numerous civilizations across the galaxy. Once the project was finished, he agreed to take presidents Zakarai and Kolya Ventrinov of planets Tritius and Segara, respectively, with him, as they had volunteered to test the ring along with him.
The ring worked, and rather interestingly so; the entire timeline had effectively "rewound" to the travel date, erasing everything that happened afterward, effectively making the past become the present. Mysteriously, he had set the date of travel to a few hours before his birth. Kolya and Zakarai sought to find themselves in their respective capital buildings in order to notify themselves of Alex's accomplishments (their stories are also rather complex, but that is for another time). Alex, however, sought to find his pregnant mother.
Armed with his knowledge of microbiology, as well as some equipment he'd created based off of stolen knowledge from the Segaran research facility at which he'd worked, he conducted a rather questionable experiment upon himself. Thanks to some makeshift stealth tactics and modern equipment, he found his way into his parents' house while they were sleeping and administered nanotechnology to into his own fetus without a trace of his presence. He had used his extensive knowledge of microbiology to program these nanobots to drastically extend his lifespan through various means.
His alpha self died of natural causes at the age of 82. His beta self, however, stopped aging at the age of 18 as a result of the nanotech that he'd administered upon himself.
Beta Alex's life is much the same as his alpha self's life; however, upon creating the Time Ring, he transported himself back to Earth year 100 AD, at which point he established his own operations in an abandoned laboratory in a Segaran forest, not too far from a decent-sized city. His renovations were more than enough to allow a studious mind such as himself to work efficiently. As a bonus, once Kolya and Zakarai Ventrinov came to power over their respective planets in Earth year 2150, both paid him quite handsomely to relay his research to their planets' secret databases by mailing both presidents solid-state storage drives every month that stored his most recent research. This trend has continued since, bringing in wonderful income with which to continue his research.
