You probably noticed when you created your account you had to set your gender to either male or female, with no other options. The gender you picked now shows up on your profile and posts, and the site refers to you as either 'he' or 'she'; which is pretty obnoxious.
This can be disabled; go to your profile and hit the "edit profile" button, then go to the "privacy" tab. There's an option called "gender visibility". If you set it to "no" the forum will no longer show a binary gender on your profile or posts, and the site will refer to you with 'they' pronouns.
